Landscape-scale Climate and Nature Resilience Forum: Change for Nature and Resilient Water Services

The Landscape-scale Climate and Nature Resilience Forum will address the growing concern that, in the face of the climate and nature crisis, there is insufficient action at pace and scale to deliver the resilience through nature and nature-based solutions that all water users need in the future.

We will examine examples of good practice, seeking to understand what made them successful, how barriers were overcome, what good systemic systems planning, governance and financing look like, and how we can incentivise long term action. We will also look at how we can work with and incentivise individuals, small organisations and community groups to be increasingly part of the solution. We will also be using the forum to reinvigorate the Catchment Declaration originally launched in 2018.

Description

Through three sessions, the forum will delve into the climate and nature crises and our current reliance on nature; contrasting examples and experiences from across sectors and the world. It will explore how long-term resilience can be implemented in rural and urban contexts. The second session will discuss ‘Systems Planning’, and how it has the potential to break through some of the current blockers to delivering catchment scale restoration by driving collaboration and collective action. The final session, ‘Engaging All’ will explore how we can include and incentivise others to deliver for nature.  The whole day will incorporate audience participation to galvanise meaningful action.

Delegates should attend to gain practical insight into tackling real-world policy and governance issues, including how to build effective partnerships, secure funding, and ensure positive outcomes. The forum will provide exposure to examples of approaches for designing resilient water catchments at scale, examples of successful collaborations. It will provide an opportunity to challenge current practices and share ideas for the future to transform your own organisations and communities.
