Nilo Nascimento is Civil Engineer (Federal University of Minas Gerais, in Brazil, 1982). He holds a master’s degree in applied hydrology (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland, 1985) and a doctorate in environmental sciences (École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, France, 1995). He is full professor at the UFMG Department of Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering and has 24 years of research experience on urban drainage, with focus on flood studies and on blue and green infrastructure. He served as UFMG Deputy Director of International Relations (2012-2014), as Dean of the UFMG Graduate Programme on Sanitation, Environment and Water Resources (2015-2018) and as member of the IWA/IAHR Joint Committee on Urban Drainage (2006-2012). He is member of the editorial board of the Urban Water Journal.
